Below is my own real-world experience of using it.I was particularly drawn to it, as I am a mosquito/magnet, and have been repeatedly suffering with many bites since the summer of last year. In desperation, I have previously tried putting a hot teaspoon directly on to a bite, to stop the itching - it worked, so I definitely appreciate and understand the concept behind the Mycarbon pen.The quality is excellent - it is a well-built, compact and lightweight device that would easily fit into a bag, which makes it great for travel. The buttons have a nice, ‘clicky’ feedback, and take a little bit of extra effort to press - less chance of accidentally activating the pen.I found the included instructions were helpful, and allowed me to start using the device within minutes. As directed, I opted to use the lower heat setting, to acclimate my skin to it. For clarity, I didn’t have any bites to treat, at the time of writing, so I just attempted to get an idea of the pen’s effectiveness.Even on the lowest setting, the heat is very powerful - you can feel it working. Thankfully, it only lasts for a few seconds (at which point, it will automatically stop heating), however, I can certainly imagine how much better an itchy bite might feel.In summary, a good value device, that will save me personally from having to mess around with kettles and teaspoons, whenever I need some relief. Recommended.

When one has a midge bite the reason it itches is because we are allergic to something in the insect's 'saliva' that is injected, and this is why we often use anti-histamine creams or even oral anti-histamines. The heat method works, if you do it early enough, by 'de-naturing' ie changing the chemical structure, of the bite component that causes the allergic reaction so that the body doesn't recognise it as an allergen. This isn't just blurb, I'm an immunologist in real life.There is a folk remedy for midge bites that involves heating the bowl of a spoon and then applying it to the bite. This 'pen' takes the process one step further. It is much easier to carry around the pen and use it when out and about, than it is to have to worry about spoons and hot water! It also means that you can get a more accurate position over the bite rather than also the surrounding area. The pen also has a timer function so you are less likely to burn yourself than by holding an over-heated spoon for too long.The 'pen' takes two AA batteries. It's a shame that it isn't a re-chargeable device. It is a nice handy size for carrying around. It is very easy to us. There are two settings, one for normal skin and one is for sensitive skin. Be careful NOT to use it over sunburned skin. My boyfriend and I both used it on holiday and it meant that we didn't have to resort to anti-histamines. Two very happy users!

Thankfully I’ve not had to use this yet so my review is really about the aesthetics of the device.I like its compact size, great for travels.The batteries are included so it can be used out of the box.It works by applying heat to the bite rather than using chemicals which I find novel.There is an obvious power on and a two heat setting button and it’s simple to periodically use.2nd review:Well I’ve now been bitten and had to use the unit about every six hours over a three day period before the bites healed.The itching relief is instantaneous which is welcome.

I had a bite on the underside of my upper arm and it was driving me crazy as it was impossible to keep my arm away from my torso. I used the lower setting on the bite and within 10 secs there was no more itching. I don't know how long the relief will last but any relief from the itching is well received. You can use it up to 5 times in a hour on the same bite. It has been about 20 mins or so since I applied the heat and still no itching so am well pleased

I purchased this handy little device, had read the reviews before purchase and did not believe it would work but boy ow boy was I wrong.If you are like me and set a foot outside the back door every bug wants to bit me ( puts you of going out side in the summer) this heats up in a few seconds and stops the itching and gets ride of the bite all together

This is a handy tool for kids and adult suffer from insect bites. The itch can last for days afterwards and this little hand held device can really make a difference. It has a ceramic plate that pretty quickly heats up and then you place on the insect bite to relieve the itch. I found it to help and relieve the itch better in the evening and it lasted long enough for me to fall asleep. I found it particularly effective for my daughter who gets a lot of bites and this meant wer weren't having to use as much cream.
